Where to find the freshness date and product codes on your Mezzetta jar, and when you'll need them.
Best By date/Best If Used By Date
Every Mezzetta product has a Best If Used By Date printed on the lid. This is the date we recommend enjoying the product by for the best quality. For how long products keep once opened, see our article How Long Do Mezzetta Products Last?
Lot code
You'll also find a lot code on the lid, alongside the Best If Used By Date. The lot code is mainly for our records — it lets us trace exactly when and where a product was made. You don't need to interpret it, but it's the single most helpful thing to have on hand if you contact us about a specific jar or want to check whether a product is included in a safety notice.
UPC (barcode)
The UPC is on the product label, printed just below the barcode. It identifies the specific product and size.
Contacting us about a product
